The casino would include 110,260 square feet of floor area for gambling plus a 48,000-square-foot convention center, a 12-story hotel with 302 guest rooms, and a 2,600-square-foot retail area as well as other amendities.

The tribe says if it’s built, the casino complex would strengthen its economy by providing a revenue source that could be used to pay for tribal government along with social, housing, governmental, administrative, educational, health and welfare services to improve the quality of life of tribal members. The tribe says money generated by gamblers, shoppers and other vititors could be used to provide capital for other economic development and investment opportunities.

The preferred site is 282 acres west of Highway 99 and north of Twin Cities Road. Another site could be the historic Wilton Rancheria site on about 75 acres in Wilton, while a third site would be just north of a proposed outlet mall in Elk Grove.

That third site would be adjacent to the never-completed Promenade Mall, construction on whiuch stopped with the Great Recession in 2008. The partially-completed structures have recently been mentioned as the site of an outlet mall.
