Wilton Rancheria acquires building as work on casino continues

The Wilton Rancheria continues work on plans for a casino in northern California.

The Bureau of Indian Affairs published a scoping report for the environmental impact statement in February. The document identifies three location for development, the largest being a 282-acre site off a major interstate near the city of Galt and south of Sacramento, the state capitol.

Meanwhile, the tribe has purchased a 10,000 square-foot building for $1.35 million in the city of Elk Grove. Chairman Raymond Hitchcock told The Sacramento Business Journal that all the tribal programs will be consolidated in the new office.

The tribe doesn't plan on asking the BIA to place the building in trust, Hitchcock said.
