Wilton Rancheria submits land-into-trust application for casino

The Wilton Rancheria of California has already submitted a land-into-trust application for a casino, Chairman Andrew Frainklin said.
The tribe has a developer too, Frankilin told the city council in Galt on Tuesday night. Plans call for a casino that's comparable to the one operated by the United Auburn Indian Community.
"Our vision would be to become a destination," Franklin said at the meeting, The Lodi News reported.
Beyond that, Franklin shared few details about the project. But the idea was well received by local leaders.
The tribe's federal recognition was reaffirmed in 2009. Presumably, the tribe would be eligible for an exception in Section 20 of the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act that applies to newly recognized tribes.
